Popular café-bar celebrates one year anniversary

A popular family-run café-bar has enjoyed a successful first year in Kingswood Parks Village

Centre. The Village Green Café-Bar, owned by Andy Carter and son Reece, has had a fantastic first year and seen a regular local following since opening its doors.

There have been a range of memorable nights including hosting an exclusive night for customers on New Year’s Eve 2015. Diners enjoyed a 2 course meal and were treated to a DJ, disco and fireworks on the stroke of midnight.

Andy Carter, who is also a resident in Kingswood Parks, said: “New Year’s Eve in particular has been a highlight, as we hosted a really special night including a DJ and fireworks for pre-booked customers, who were mostly locals of Kingswood. Amazingly, we already have 32 people booked in for New Year’s Eve 2016, which shows us how much they enjoyed the evening.”

On a Monday and Tuesday night, the café-bar runs its ‘steak special night’, where two diners can benefit from steak and a free bottle of house wine to complement, all for just £22.95.

Andy says he prides himself on providing good value for money quality food, and really appreciates the local custom.

He continued: “Our steak special nights are very popular, and we do a Sunday roast every Sunday – that can get very busy too.

“The Christmas lights switch on back in December was a good day for us as it helped to bring in the locals. We supplied mince pies and mulled wine on behalf of Kingswood Parks Development Company and it was great to see people pop in and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. We also provided afternoon tea for over 400 people at the development’s 20th birthday celebrations.”

Inside, the kitchen is open plan allowing customers to see exactly where their food is being prepared by head chef Karl Ferguson and his experienced team. Karl is passionate about cooking and credits his team behind him, who have years of experience in the catering industry, for the success of The Village Green Café-Bar’s food.

He said: “I love cooking for the locals. I only live down the road from here and often see my neighbours and other people I know come in. I’ve got to know a network of people who keep coming back here, I think it’s the good food that brings people back.

“My favourite thing to cook is the specials. We have a specials board each week which provides customers with a range of dishes using fresh seasonal produce from local suppliers. This is fine dining at its best and gives customers the chance to try something different.”

The Village Green is one of many independent businesses to have opened in the new Village Centre. The Hair Room, The Village Retreat, Kingswood Butchers and Deli and estate agents Beercock, Wiles & Wick also opened last year, to add to the variety of retailers that occupy the Village Centre.

Andy said: “We want to thank all of our customers who have visited us this past year, and welcome all residents of Kingswood to come and see us.”
